Music

Music is another wonderful art form that can both express the thoughts, feelings and emotions we often cannot capture in words or be used to evoke a particular state or mood.

Mostly we are familiar with the idea of choosing in advance the music we would like played after our death at our funeral or disposal of our body ceremony, wake or remembrance events.

However we suggest you might wish to think about how you could use music to support you for your well being in dying whatever your role in relation to this experience, event or time. You might do this either
• Individually
• As a group made up of the person who is moving towards the end of their life, partner, carers, family and friends

And choose music that signifies or symbolises elements of the experience so far, as well as hopes and fears for any steps ahead. Then some discussion can follow including some of the reasons for the choice of that music and what it means to that person.

Music then can be used to facilitate or as a way of entering into how to talk about what is going on for all those concerned --- We make no recommendations here. Music, whatever type and whatever our age connects to us for a range of different reasons.
